Busy Days For Fraser
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The acting Prime Minister (Hon. D. G. Sullivan) has been advised by the New Zealand Legation at Washington that, following discussions with Colonel Knox and Admiral King on Tuesday, Mr. Fraser lunched with Mr. Harold Butler, British Minister at the British Embassy. A large official reception was held at the New Zealand Legation in honour of Mr. Fraser. Seven hundred guests were present On Wednesday, Mr. Fraser hact conferences with General Hurley (the first United States Minister to New Zealand), Mr. H. L. Stimson and General Marshall, United States Chief of Staff.
Mr. and Mrs. Fraser were entertained to lunch by General Hurley. The guests included Mr. William Bullitt, Senator Taft and Congressman Will Rogers. In the afternoon, Mr. Fraser attended a meeting of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, where he outlined New Zealand’s manpower position and the main facts of the war effort. He also discussed New Zealand’s external policy and the Canberra agreement, and later had a talk with Mr. Cordell Hull. In the evening, Mr Nash gave an. official dinner, at Which many representatives of the United States’ Government (including the Vice-Presi-dent), services and Allied Nations’ representatives attended. Mr. and Mrs. Fraser will attend a luncheon at the White House on Saturday, following which they will leave for New York.
