Whangarei Captain Is Awared M.C.
(Spec. 1.45 p.m.) LONDON. April 21. At a recent'investiture. D.F.C.’s were received from the King by GroupCaptain G. J. Grindel, A.F.C. (Timaru), former commanding officer of'a New Zealand Ventura squadron; SquadronLeader R. Broadbent and G. L. Mandeno (Auckland),- Flight-Lieutenants F. A. Andrews (Auckland), C. L. G. Holmes (Frankton Jn.). The M.C. was. received by Captain F. Poolman, N.Z.E. (Whangarei), who was recently transferred from Italy to: take a course in England.
Sqr-Ldr. Broadbent and Flt.-Lieut. Andrews were formerly flight-com-manders of the 75th Squadron and recently took an R.A.F. Staff College course. Sqr.-Ldr. Broadbent is now liaison officer with -the Eighth U.S-A.A.F. arid Flt.-Lieut. Andrews is with Coastal Command.
