Hobson Supports Bay

■ Fu]l support for the Bay of Islands Harbour Board’s petition to the Minister of Marine asking for Government aid to replace the loss of revenue incurred by the diversion of overseas export produce from Opua to Auckland, was accorded at the last meeting of the Hobson Countv Council. - , “The position is most unsatisfactory.” commented the chairman, Cr. P. Wordsworth, who explained that an additional £20,000 was being added to the costs oi the producer. The state of decay, he said, was due to the loss of revenue through the diversion of exports from Opua to Auckland, and he expressed the opinion that the Government annual grant should be equivalent to the annual loss incurred by the harbour board, so that the hoard’s commitments and maintenance could be met. The decision to support the petition was carried with, complete unity. *
