Thirty high-priced yearlings had been sold to Melbourne buyers, including the 2109-guineas Ajax colt. “No provision whatever is being ma/io for the transport of any of these yearlings, either inter-State or intru-State,:’ said Mr. Ward.

A special provision was made to enable yearlings bred in the country to be brought to Sydney for the sales, so that there would lie no discouragement of breeding. The condition laid down, however, that yearlings could not be taken away from Svdney again and must be raced here. There will be strict policing of the transport regulations to ensure that there is no infringement. Mr. Ward said that anyone attempting to get the. horses to Melbourne by road or rail would lie liable to prosecution. ,
