Purua School Picnic

Good weather certainly favoured them last Fridav when the children of Purua School held their annual picnic, sports and swimming events in Broughton’s paddock and Alison’s pool. The parents attended in good numbers. The mothers provided ample good things to eat, besides which there were soft drinks and the inevitable ice-creams. A long programme of running, novelty and jumping events, and swimming kept the children fully occupied. The girls' cup was won by May Peene and the boys’ cup by Murray Stiffe. A points competition between two school houses, Tuis and Kiwis, was won by Kiwis.
