(Rec. 12.30 n.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. In 1942-43 98,837,000 traffic miles were run on Australian railways while revenue was £84,746. Traffic was 27 per cent and revenue 89 per cent higher than in 1938-39. Working expenses in 1942-43 were 77 per cent higher than in 1938-39, but net earnings were 136 per cent higher. They represented 6.4 per cent on a capital cost of £325,391,000 as compared with 2.78 per cent in 1938-39.
