WASHINGTON, March 15,

Without objection the House of Representatives agreed to confer the Distinguished Service Medal on Admiral Nimitz for his achievements as Commander-in-Chief of the Pacific Fleet. It was explained that although the law authorises President Roosevelt to confer such award, it was felt that because of Admiral Nimitz’s brilliant leadership, the award should be made by Act of Congress.
