Japs Changing Policy Towards Chinese?
(Rec. 11.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, March 14. Recent arrivals at Chungking from Shanghai report that a sort of appeasement policy is going on there because educated Japanese are beginning to think the war is lost, says the Chungking correspondent of the "New York Times.” It is significant that Japanese shopkeepers are wearing Chinese dress and making friends with Chinese on a basis of “we will help you now if you help us latex-.” x Recently the Japanese tested public opinion by showing old and new newsreels The audience enthusiastically applauded British and American soldiers in a newsreel showing fighting in Europe and the Ear East, but a picture showing the Nanking Puppet Premier (Wang Clung Wei) was received in silence. ©
