Kamo, Three Mile Bush Welcome To Servicemen

Citizens of Kamo and Three Mile Bush combined forces to welcome home Private Poe and Private Lees, of Three Mile Bush, and to entertain Privates Rowe, Howard and Wood, who were home on leave from camp. Mr Harris welcomed the returned servicemen, to each of whom a presentation was made by Mrs Campbell on behalf of the people of the district. In concluding a speech of appreciation of the welcome, Private Lees asked the assemblage to join- in the theme song of the boys he had left behind in the steaming jungles of the Pacific islands; “When they sound the last all-clear.” Mr Makinson, on behalf of the citizens of Kamo, extended a welcome to the boys who were on leave. During the evening, two Scottish songs were sung by Miss Noelene Joll. The boys in whose honour the .ceremony was held, were piped on to the stage by a fully uniformed piper; '
