Poles Die For Aiding British
(P.A.) . WELLINGTON. This Day. Cabled information has been received by the Polish Consul-General that a recent copy of the Polish underground paper “Rzeczpospolita Polska” (Polish Commonwealth), which has now reached London reveals that five Poles have been executed by the Germans in Polish Pomerania for hiding escaped British prisoners of war and giving them food and civilian clothing. Three Polish women were sentenced to a long term of imprisonment in penal camps for showing sympathy to British prisoners of war by giving them food and cigarettes.
