Kaitaia Street Sealing Tar-sealing of the State Highway through Kaitaia township will be undertaken by the Public Works Department this week.
Easter Travel Permits Advice has been received from the Whangarei stationmaster (Mr. G. McNeil) that travel permits will not be issued to teachers, school-children, college pupils and university students wishing to travel during the Easter holidays.
The Water Jump "What about the Dargaville Agricultural High School, has that been granted yet?” asked a member of the school committee at the meeting with the Director of Education, when the question of the establishment of an agriculaurnl high school was being discussed. "No, it has only been passed by the board,” said Dr. Beeby. “That's only a small hurdle. We have yet to take the water jump!” (Laughter).—“The Otorohanga Times.”
Whangarei Resident Broadcast Tomorrow. March 14, the anniversary of the first publication ol' "The Three Musketeers,” and “The Count of Monte Cristo,” world-famed hooks by Alexandre Dumas, Mr F. W. Reed, well-known Whangarei authority on Dumas, will broadcast over Station IYA in a radio interview on aspects of Dumas’ life not generally known to the public. In a ‘'Listener'’ published recently appeared an introductory story on Dumas written by Mr Reed.
Improving Ngawha Domain A contract has been let by the Ngawha Springs Domain Board for burning and clearing of scrub and gc-rse from the four-acre domain Native huts on the property are to be removed and trees will be planted for shelter and decorative purposes. Eventually, it is planned to have a hakea shelter belt round most of the domain. The work is under supervision of Mr R. B. Clark, citrus orchard ist, of Kerikeri.
W.D.F.U.’s Good Effort An exceptional degree of success greeted the Knikohc W.D.F.U.'s “Bring and Buy” effort for Red Cross funds on Kaikohe Sheep Fair Day last week, a sum of more than C3O being raised. A stall was well provided with fruit and vegetables, while afternoon tea was well patronised. A cake, donated by Mrs. G. D. Skitter, was won by Malcolm Edwards; a dressed goose, donated by .Mr. S. Harrison, was won by Mrs. };. Rockall; and a Black Orpington cockerel, donated by Mrs. T. Bassett, was won by Mr. G. li. Cook.
