British Gratitude For N.Z. Meat Rationing
(F.A.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Following the receipt in Britain of details of New Zealand’s meat rationing scheme, the British Minister for Food (Col. J. J. Llewillin) cabled the Prime Minister (Hon. P. Fraser) through the New Zealand High Commissioner, expressing deep gratitude to the Government and people for that action “which represents a further contribution to the war effort of the United Nations and which Will be of particular importance to the people of Britain in view of our dependence upon New Zealand for supplies of meat essential for the maintenance of the rations both of our services and civilians.”
