Faithful picturisation of the life, development, and exploits of Lou Gehrig, most famous baseball player since Babe Ruth, is portrayed in “The Pride of the Yankees’’ now screening, with a wellselected supporting programme, at the Regent Theatre, Whangarej. Starring one of the most notable male actors of the day, Gary Cooper, who excels his previous performances, in this film, Teresa Wright, Walter Breenan, and the idol of many youthful American hearts. Babe Ruth, the film details the life and history of Lou Gehrig, his upbringing - , and the ‘development of his skill. An excellent supporting programme includes the latest Fox Movietone news, and a short entitled “America Moves Her Japs,” released by the Ministry for Information.
