Importance Of Aid Given By Yugoslavs
(Rec. 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 18. The importance of Yugosav resistance was underlined in a House of Commons statement, in which the Minister for War (Sir James Grigg) summarised the progress of the fighting in the past few weeks.
“At the beginning of December, the enemy launched a widespread offensive against the Yugoslav National Army of Liberation/’ said Sir James. “In general, this large-scale German offensive was a failure in Central Bosnia, where fighting is still in progress. “The Partisan Ai’my has been supplied with war material by the Allies to the full extent which the military situation permitted. Partisan operations on numerous occasions have been supported by our air forces, and close liaison has been maintained by Allied officers in Yugoslavia. “The Partisan Ai’my at one time or another during the period, engaged up to 15 German divisions, which might otherwise have been profitably employed elsewhere. Large areas of Yugoslavia are entirely under Partisan control. Further, by their interruption of German sea, road and rail communications, the Partisans inflicted a heavy burden on the German organisation of supplies. '
