Fire Destroys Two Hotels at Kumara
(P.A.) GREYMOUTH, This Day. A fire at Kumara before midnight destroyed two adjoining hotels. Pearn’s, of 54 rooms, and Murphy’s, of 20 rooms. The buildings and contents were all iost apart from a small quantity of stock from Murphy's. No persons were injured. No insurances were on Pearn's. but there was £3OOO on Murphy’s buildings, and £250 on stock and furniture. The Kumara Fire Brigade saved nearby shops. There was a poor water supply.
