Northland Dog Trials
As a memorial to the late Mr. H. B. Sloane,. an active supporter of the club, the central executive of the Northland Sheep Dog Trial Club decided at a meeting held in Whangarei. to procure a cup to be known as the Henry Sloane Memorial Challenge Cup for competition by affiliated clubs of the centre. Clubs are to be asked for suggestions as to the competition for which the cup should be awarded.
The meeting passed a vote of condolence to Mrs. H. B. Sloane and family, members present standing in silence. In place of the late Mr. H. B. Sloane, Mr. P. G. L. McKenzie, of Broadwood, the only nominee, was appointed delegate to the executive of the North Island Council of the Sheep Dog Trial Association.
A levy of £1 for each club was struck for administration fees, and the application of the Tangowahine club for affiliation to the centre was granted. The centre championship is to be held at Holensville. Names of judges, to be submitted to the clubs for their approval ai'e: Hobson County, Otamatea, Maungakaramea, Mr. C. Jones; Tangowahine, Mr. F. Massey; Northland, Mr. J. C. Ambury: Helensville, Mr. H. Holloway (Putaruru). .Suggested dates for next year’s trials are as follows: Hobson "County: April 14. 15. Otamatea: April 18, 19. Tangowahine: April 21. 22. Maungakaramea: May 17, 18. Northland: May 24, 25. Helensville: May 26, 27.
