Junior Red Cross Party And Dance At Kaikohe
(Special) KAIKOHE, This Day. Forty-eight children of the Kaikohe District High School, ranging from Form HI. upwards, were entertained at a Junior Red Cross party and dance iri the Masonic Hall. Kaikohe. Dancing and competitions occupied most of the evening. On entering the hall, each child was given a slip of paper hearing the name of an animal and later they created much merriment with imitations of the noises made by their respective animals. The sheep were declared Hie winners, but the roosters.were not far behind. A competition for collection of signatures was won by Eric Jerkovieli, while a musical competition dubbed “Lakes" was won by Betty Flower and Betty Pearson. B. flohepa, proved the winner in a nursery rhymes competition. Judges for the competitions and games were Miss M. 11. Wood and Mesdainos T. Bassett and 11. Cox. Music for the dancing and other items was provided by Mesdames L. Davidson and D. .Davies. Mrs. Cox was guest of tin- evening. A community sing preceded a lavish supper, which was provided by members of tlio Kaikohe Red Cross, The patron of the. Junior Red Cross (Miss Wood) thanked the supper organisers, Mesdames Bassett, V. Cracknel] and R. Orr. Singing of “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow’’ confirmed the tribute. Speaking as president of (lie Bay of Islands Centre and chairman of the Kaikohe sub-centre, Mrs. Bassett encouraged lbo children to continue with Junior Cross activities. The Junior Red Cross president (Shirley White) presented Noni Fra in with a gift for the most; work done for the organisation during the past yea r.
