Whangarei High School Roll Of Honour

“Up to the present over 70 old boys have given their lives in the service of their country,” said the Principal (Mr. A. R. Ryder) at the end-of-year function ceremony of the Whangarei High School. Horn, Brian F. liotson, Colin M. Jackman, Louis dc Valliant, Duncan H. McArthur, D.F.C.. Bruce G, M. Mcßeath, Duncan R. McDonald, Stuart McKinnon, Bruce M. Maxwell, Trevor Mitchell, George Pou. Henry J. Prye, Desmond G. Ridings, John Rothwell, Eric A. Shilton, Anthony G. Sinton, John Sketchley, Augustine G. Smith, Donald C. Tooth, Lloyd A. Trigg, V.C., D.F.C., Leo A. Wakelin, Vernon B. Wallace, Terence Watters, Leslie V. Weir, Clifford J. Whitelaw, Wynne Worsp. The name of the late Major J. J. Eritland, a former member of the staff, was included in Ihe list. “There is no need for me to reiterate the pride of the school in Ihe honour bestowed upon Flying-Officer Lloyd A. Trigg, who was awarded the Victoria Cross,” the Principal said. “We know' that his manner of dying will be an inspiration for generations to come.”
