| Delayed for nearly three hours, j lowing to a slip on the railway line I about one and a-half miles north ofj Kaiwaka, the train leaving Auckland | lat 10.30 p.m. on Sunday and due at; Whangarei at 8.18 a.m. did not arrive j until about 10.15 a.m. yesterday. Cov-; ered for about 50 yards with earth to j varying heights, the track had to be] deviated around the slip before a pas-j sage could be made by the train.] During the long interval, from about] ] 4.15 a.m. to 7 a.m., the train stood atj !■ Kaiwaka, where passengers warmed themselves by periodically visiting the j (.nginedriver's cab, and by drinking j hot tea made for them on the station. Between 30 and 40 passengers ] journeyed by the train, and they] ] walked across the deviation and wait-] ] ed until the train had crossed the dan-1 jgerous section before rejoining it. j
