Mangonel Hospital Rate Unaltered

‘•There is very little reduction in the rate as a result of the increase in the Government levy to hospital boards, from 6/ to 9/-,” said the chairman of the Mangonui County Council when the council discussed a letter from the secretary of the Mangonui Hospital Board stating that the increased amount meant a reduction of £513 in the council’s levy. They had therefore decided to leave the rate as it had been decided upon lor the year with the hope that next year a reduction could be made. Any refund would be used to add to the amount spent on road work. A general rate of 11 1-8 pence was struck with a special rate according to specified areas. Details of the special rate will be published.
