Welcome Home At Riponui

A large number ol people from Riponui, Otaikarangi, Jordan and surrounding districts gathering in the Riponui hall on Tuesday evening, to welcome home the three local soldiers —Corporal Eric May, and Privates Cyril Stables and Len King. The hall had been tastefully decorated with flags, greenery and flowers, a feature being, the large “Welcome” done in red, white and blue flowers. During the evening the guests were introduced by Mr Joe Halford. Mr R. G. Phyn welcomed the three men on behalf of the districts before mentioned and presented each with a substantial cheque. With dancing and community singing, followed by a bountiful supper provided by the district ladies, a happy evening closed by musical honours to the local and all visiting servicemen home on furlough.
