Soldiers Greatly Appreciate Reception

“We realise that it is our home, and that we are no more strangers in a strange land,” said Major J. H. Garland, of Waipu, today in expressing his great appreciation of the way the Whangarei people turned out to receive the men returning on furlough on Tuesday. Major Garland left New Zealand With the First Echelon. The organisation that was provided in Whangarei for getting the men speedily to their homes was wonderful and was greatly appreciated by all. The receptions given at the respective places on the whole way up from Wellington to Whangarei was simply astounding, said M'ajof Garland.
