Auckland’s Water Supply Improves

(Special) AUCKLAND, Thursday. While Auckland is still wrestling with electric power and gas difficulties, the wet weather experienced during the last few days has improved the water situation. Yesterday was the first really wet day experienced locally for a long time, and water supply reserves benefited appreciably. The waterworks engineer (Mr. A. D. Mead) states that there is approximately 143,000,000 gallons in the dams, but this is less than 10 per cent, of capacity. The public should not imagine that because rain had come, need for economising in the use of water had become much less. Reserves had to be built up by every possible means for next summer.
