Rain In Auckland

(Special) AUCKLAND, Monday. Rain, which fell from late Saturday night until Monday, has given welcome relief to the Auckland water supply and postponed, for some days at least, threatened rationing from standpipes. There has been a gain of over 40,000,000 gallons in water in storage, with prospects of more from the increased flow of streams. The rainfall in Auckland for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today was ,03in, and. for the previous 24 hours, .38in, making 1.04 in for the month. In the ranges, however, over 2ins fell near the Huia dam. Today there is brilliant sunshine.
