A recommendation thni alternative and adequate means of communication boiween (he north and south shores of the harbour would form a reasonable project for post-war rehabilitation work was made at a meeting of the Auckland Electric Power Board. The recommendation followed receipt of a letter from the Waitemata Harbour Bridge Association inviting local bodies to consider the inclusion of the erection of a bridge as part of a national rehabilitation scheme. It was pointed out that the board’s recommendation showed preference neither for a bridge nor for a tunnel, but lefr the matter open.
