NEW YORK. April 7.'; A nation-wide ring of meat blackmarket operators was revealed when the Federal Grand Jury of New’arw, Netv Jersey, indicted seven mid-west antl v New Jersey corporations and 11 individuals on charges of conspiracy to violate price regulations and quota restrictions. Defendants allegedly brought 10.000,000’ pounds of meat to New York area, costing the consumers 2.000.000 dollars in overcharges. Investigation uncovered an elaborate blackmarket structure in which slaughterhouses and pack- • ing establishments were purchased by the ring of conspirators.
