Prelate Advocates Brisbane Curfew
(Special) BRISBANE, Wednesday. A curfew, to prevent girls under 1.7 being out at night, unless accompanied by an older relative, was urged by the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Brisbane (Dr. Duhig), when addressing the annual meeting of the Catholic Daughters of Australia. Other measures suggested by Dr. Duhig to combat growing immorality, which is regarded as one of Australia’s gravest war problems, were the raising the age of consent to 18 years, strict supervision over apartment houses, clearing out of undesirables from city parks and heavy penalties for offences against morality in public parks.
