Fortification Of W. European Coast
LONDON, February 10,
The “New York Times” says the Berne correspondent of the “Essener National Zeitung” says that evacuation of the coastal population in the Low Countries inland, is virtually completed. Former well-known seaside resorts have been razed to make room for coast defences, including fire zones, minefields, artillery emplacements and naval bases. The paper adds: "The German Netherlands programme is undergoing significant amendments and expansions. It is not intended to make the Netherlands a member of the League of European States but a component pari of greater Germany.”
