Wartime London In “Confirm Or Deny”
AMUSEMENTS
“Confirm or Deny”, which opened ior a two night season at the Regent last night, is an up-to-the-minute picture of wartime London and portrays vividly the conditions under which “shows must go on” in spite of blitz and black out. Don Ameche, Joan Bonnetr. and Roddy McDcwall, the fine juvenile of "How Green was my Valley.” take leading roles. Don Ameche is a young American reporter who gets things done. When his newspaper office is bombed he “reserved rights" in the basement of the Regency Hotel, where he endeavoured to publish the biggest scoop of the war, “The Invasion of Britain,” minus the censor's stamp.
Excellent supports to the main picture include a travelogue, cartoon, .Stooge comedy and a very fine study of wild animals.
Apart from the interest of seeing “How London takes it”, the whole programme is of good entertainment value.
