U.S. Shipbuilding Decline Last Mouth

(Received 1.45 p.m.)

WASHINGTON. November 4

The Maritime Commission has announced that shipbuilding declined from 93 in September to 81 in October, representing 890,700 tons, and bringing the year’s production to 6,000,000 tons. ■» It attributed the decline to temporary diversion of considerable merchant shipbuilding capacity to emergency construction for the armed forces.

Mr Henry Kaiser's Oregon Shipyards shared top honours with California Shipbuilding Corporation at Wimlington. Each delivered 12 Liberty ships. .Sixty-five of the 81 were Liberty ships. Other ships delivered were: Three cargo vessels for Britain, eight C type merchantmen, four large tankers, and one ore carrier.
