Power Agreement
In response to a request from the North Auckland Electric-power Board that when the emergency regulations had expired the supply of electricity by the board to Wilsons Portland Cement Company should be restored, the Minister for Public Works advised the board at its meeting in Dargaville that he had agreed to the return of the transformer and line used in the supply to the company, but the interchange of power between the company and the department had no relation to the emergency regulations. He regretted he could not agree that there was any obligation on the company to renew its contract with the board after the war ceased. Mr J. G. Coates replied to a similar letter, stating that he would do his best to support the request, while Mr J. G. Barclay stated .he would discuss the question with the Minister.
