Dalmatian Found Dead A 62-year-old Dalmatian, Marin C'urac, who had lived alone on the Swc-etwater gumfields, was found dead in; his shack on August 7. Curac had been in ill-health for a considerable time, suffering from T.B. and chronic asthma. It was considered that he died from an internal haemorrhage. No eoronial inquiry is to be held.

Girl Guides’ Appeal Final results of the Northland Brownies, Guides and Rangers' efforts to raise money for Trefoil Recreational Huts for soldiers are at hand. The Municipal Band

The Municipal Band proved its value as a community asset during the week, when it took part in the welcome to the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band. Despite the troubles which every institution has to meet as a result of war conditions, the Municipal Band has maintained strength and efficiency. and the compliments paid to conductor and men for their very fine performance during the week were well earned. Their playing and marching were of a most creditable character.
