Party Truce Justified

TBritish Official Wireless] (Rec. 2 p.m.) RUGBY, June 11. Llandaff and Barry by-election resulted: C. A. Lakin (Conservative). 19,408 votes; R. Mackay (Independent Socialist), 13.753; M. Paton (Welsh Independent), 975. Conservative majority, 5655. No change. Paton loses his deposit.

At the last general election the Conservative majority was 1422. Mr. Cyril Lakin is a well-known journalist and 8.8. C. commentator on foreign affairs. Mr. Mackay, an Australian, fought the election on the issue of the party truce, resigning from the Labour Party in order to do so.
