Empire Casualties

I British Official Wireless] (Rec. 12.30 p.m.) RUGBY. June 10. Mr. Attlee disclosed in the House of Commons that the following casualties have been suffered by Empire forces between September 9, 1939. and February 2, 1942 (all ranks): United Kingdom, 145,612; Dominions. 23.824; India and Burma, 8519; Colonies. 6123. Officer casualties were 12,743, 1624, 459, and 61 respectively. Of these 5607. 534, 106 and 29 respectively were killed. Other ranks' casualties were: United Kingdom, 132,469; Dominions 22.200; India and Burma, 8132. and Colonies 6062. Of these 660, 4102. 1333, and 582 respectively were killed.

Yesterday Mr. Attlee announced that Empire civilian casualties in air raids for a similar period were over 63.000 killed, and over 50,000 injured.
