Power Line Vandalism In Hukatere District

“Recently two incidents in the Hukatere district have given the North Auckland Power Board’s officials some concern,” said the engineer (Mr. T. 'R. Overton) at this week’s meeting of the board.

“On two occasions a piece of wire has been thrown across the power lines, causing short circuits. The most recent happened this week.” His officers were making inquiries. The board authorised the engineer * collect the costs which the board had been * put to in sending its trouble-man to the district from the parties concerned.

“It is rather awkward for a district to have the power cut off during the milking period,” said the engineer. The first interruption occurred on March 8, when a short piece of barbed wire was found thrown across the high tension line at Hukatere.

Police inquiries are being made into this vandalism.
