Death Of Maori Woman
[Special to ‘'Northern Advocate”; HAMILTON. This Day. Detective-Sergeant W. R. Murray, who has been in charge of the investigations at Otewa, seven miles from Otorohanga, in connection with the finding of the body of a Maori woman Ngahaka (Rita) Emery, aged 19. has returned to Hamilton. Joe Kino, who has been in the Waikato Hospital since Sunday, receiving treatment for lacerations in the neck, is reported to be progressing satisfactorily. At the inquest opened at Otorohanga by the district coroner (Mr C. Tucker), it was staled that the dead' woman, a member of the Kino family, lived on the property of Tipping Bros., where Joe Kino was employed for. eight months. The body was found in blackberry and fern scrub half a mile from Kino’s cottage, lying in long grass in an area of dried swamp. The body was lying on its back, covered with an old grey blanket. The inquest was adjourned sine die.
