More Jap. Planes Reach Philippines

(Rec. 2.30 p.m.) RUGBY, Feb. 18. A United States War Department communique states that in the Philippine theatre new enemy air units are appearing over our lines and bombing our troops almost constantly. Another bombing attack lias been made on the refugee camp at Cabcaben. Hostile artillery fire on our forts from a position on the Cavite sSore continues. New enemy batteries on Bataan have increased the density ci artillery fire on our positions. A fairly large convoy of Japanese troopships arrived at Subic Bay, and enemy einforcements are landing at Olongapo. Major-General Moore, deputy chief of staff, testifying before the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee, said that the army would have sent plenty of bombers to the Philippines to aid General MacArthur “if we could get them there.”
