How N.Z. Pilot Won D.F.C.

(P.ec, 3 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 17. Filot-Officer Michael Anthony Ensor, R.N.Z.A.F.. has been awarded the D.F.C. The citation states that one night in January he and ObserverSergeant Page, of the Royal Canadian Air Force, who received the D.F.M., observed a convoy of three ships in enemy waters. Pilot-Officer Ensor attacked the leading ship from mast height, scoring direct hits.

In an evasive, low-altitude action his plane struck a rock which put out of action his starboard engine, instrument turret and lights. He regained height in a heavy snowstorm. Later his plane was attacked by anti-aircraft batteries over enemy territory, but he flew towards the sea and proceeded on one engine to his base, where he made a forced landing.
