Claims No U.S. Supplies Have Reached Rommel

WASHINGTON, Feb. 17. The Under-Secretary for State (Mr Sumner Wells) told the Press that not a single pound of American supplies sent to North Africa had reached the Axis forces in Libya via French Africa. Technical advisers are carrying out the duties of supervision very satisfactorily and are still there. The Government is still awaiting the Vichy Government’s reply to inquiries regarding French supplies reaching the Axis forces in Libya. The Berlin radio announces that the so-called Imperial economic conference opens at Vichy on February 18 and will include representatives from French North and West Africa to discuss the question of supplies between France and the African colonies.
