Railwaymen’s Picnic At Whangarei
The annual picnic and sports meeting oi the Whangarei Railwaymen’s Picnic Committee was held yesterday in splendid conditions at Jubilee Park, Whangarei. There was a good attendance of railwayman and their families, everyone present voting the day an enjoyable and pleasant one. The arrangements were ably handled by the president {Mr Frank Tercel) and the secretary-treasurer (Mr H. Dewhurst). Ice creams, sweets, soft drinks and fruit were liberally, distributed to children and adults, and in addtiion. each child received a toy. The Jesuits of the spoils which were keenly contested were as follows: Children’s Races Girls, three years and under: Gladys O’Reilly 1, Leonard Kruger 2.
