Russians Cut German Time By Two-Thirds
LONDON. January 9
Russian attacks are reported against Finnish positions on the Gulf of Finland, Lake Onega and the Svir River, according to a Stockholm message, which quotes the Finnish communique. This says the Finns repulsed Russian attacks at several poipts northward of Lake Onega. The enemy also unsuccessfully attacked a number of other points on the eastern front. East of Leningrad during December the Russians are reported to have recaptured every city, town and village taken by the Germans in the previous three months. The Finnish Shipowners’ Association states that Finland lost 91 ships of a toftnage of 113,000, since 1939, when she possessed 251 ships. The losses include 48 ships seized in foreign countries.
