Hikurangi Girls’ Life Brigade

A very enjoyable “Mother and Daughter Banquet” marked the close of the year for the Ist Hikurangi Company of the “Girls’ Life Brigade” in connection with the Hikurangi Presbyterian Church on Friday. November 28.

The social hour which followed the banquet was presided over by the Rev. D. R. Allan, chaplain to the company. Bouquets were presented to the captain (Miss J. Livingston) and the lieutenant (Mrs. D. R. Allan) with appropriate speeches from members of the company. Opportunity was also taken. by the chaplain to thank the captain on behalf of the parents for the work and success of the year. Certificates were presented to some of the members who had worked and gained them during the year. The following awards had been gained: Millinery: Mary Speirs, certificate and badge; Margaret Speirs, certificate. Cycling: Barbara Weaver, certificate; Patricia Collis, certificate. Hobbies: Violet Scott, certificate. Bible knowledge: Mary Spiers, certificate; Barbara Weaver/ certificate; Margaret Brown, certificate. Good Service Stars: Mary Speirs, Patricia Collis, Margaret Brown and Violet Scott.
