Russell Air Trainee In Overdue Plane

Two airmen of the Royal New Zealand Air Force were reported overdue on a cross-country flight from the R.N.Z.A.F. station at Ohakea last evening. They were the occupants of an aircraft engaged in a flight from Ohakea to Opunake and return. Tlie overdue airmen are L.A.C. Charles William Baker, son of Mr. W. O. Baker, of Russell, and L.A.C. Winston Stanley Canned, son of Mr. Percy Canned, Peria, Matamata. An aircraft of the Royal New Zealand Air Force crashed into the bush behind Waikanae during cross-country training yesterday, but the sole occupant escaped without injury.
