Fifteen animals from the Hikurangi Consolidated School were paraded on the lawn of Mr. Billington, of Mania. All Marua and some of Hikurangi were present. Spectators and calves were glad of the shade, as was also the judge, Mr. A. O. Brown, when he started to point up the calves. Mr. Brown had no easy task. He was able to make only eight points difference between the best and the worst-reared calf. Difficulties arose when the team of three calves had to be selected for the Whangarei Championship on December 12. There were six calves so good that none could be left out. and finally it was decided to send in two teams. Marua will he in the running is the opinion of the judge.
