Defends R.A.F. Against U.S. Naval Critic
;Rec. 12.30 p.m.) NEW YORK. Nov. IS The aviation writer for the United Press (Major Alexander de Seversky), replying to Rear-Admiral H. E. Yarnell’s recent attack on the R.A.F., said Rear-Admiral Yarnell's data was distorted and his conclusions were false. Major de Seversky said there had been occasions wh-:n the R.A.F. did not follow up naval information about German submarines, but the reason for that was that there were more targets and more tasks than the R.A.F. couid handle. The British Navy was fully and quickly informed when the German transports were en route to Norway and the failure to interrupt the invasion reflected the inability of naval forces 'to function under skies held by land-based enemy aviation. He pointd out that Rear-Admiral Yarnell’s article coincided with the Congressional hearings on proposals •:o separate the United States air force from army and naval control, and the timing could scarcely have oeen accidental.
