The Northern Advocate Daily “NORTHLAND FIRST” Registered for transmission through the post as a Newspaper THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 1941. New Zealanders In Action
TODAY’S news that New Zealand troops are included in Britain’s campaign to retake the territory in Cyrenaiea previously captured by General Waved but afterwards surrendered to the Germans, will clothe the war with renewed importance to the people of the Dominion. It has been evident for some weeks that preparations were being made for another big movement in the Western Desert, and it was believed that New Zealanders, who had tp remain inactive while their Australian comrades won glory by sweeping along the northern coast, were this time to be given their opportunity. That belief is fulfilled, and, as a consequence, New Zealand will watch with keenest interest and pride the progress of the new campaign, which, apparently, has opened auspiciously, for the Empire’s troops have penetrated fifty miles into enemy territory with little opposition.
