Selecting Vehicles For Emergency

[Per Press Association. —Copyright. I WELLINGTON, This Day. The Minister for Transport (Mr. Semple), said today that the Controller of Emergency Transport (Mr. G. L. Laurenson) recently visited each district. The controller, with the aid of local expert committees and district controllers, was now proceeding with the work of selecting vehicles for emergency requirements of the army. The Minister added that vehicles would be taken over by the military authorities only in the case of extreme emergency. Until such an event occurred they would continue to be used for such civil purposes as their owner desired.

Every endeavour would be made in the selection to avoid dislocation and minimise hardship. Although the right of appeal existed he invited owners in the interests of their country’s defence, to make the least possible use of this procedure.
