Nazi Administration In Belgium Exposed

[British Official Wireless] (Rec. 11 a.m.) RUGBY, November 14. German methods of administration in occupied territories ' were again exposed in a broadcast to the Belgians from London by the Belgian Premier (M. Pierlot). To gain control over Belgian administration the Germans dismissed more of the permanent heads of the ministries and among those appointed in their places are some who are undoubtedly traitors. M. Pierlot reminded his countrymen that the measures taken by these newcomers were illegal and outside the scope of Belgian laws. A virtual political dictatorship had been set up through the intermediary of the Belgian National Socialist <G. Romsee), who had been made Secretary-General of the Ministry for the Interior and had appointed over 400 burgomasters. Appropriate Time M. Pierlot’s declaration that the situation must be ended, comes at an appropriate time when Belgians are remembering November 15 as the day on which (hey used to express their loyalty to their King. This year, for the first time, the Germans have forbidden them to do so with the surprising official reason that “as the King regards himself as a prisoner of war he certainly does not desire public demonstrations in his honour."
