Mystery Thriller Heads New Bill At Regent

“Sleepers West,” one of the two features on the' new programme which opened at the Regent Theatre last night, is an exciting mystery thriller continuing the adventures of Michael Shayne, a private detective, noted for two-fistedness and fast-talking . • When the detective tussles with a quick-thinking newspaper reporter (Lynn Bari), tracking down a key witness (Mary Beth Hughes) guarded by the detective, fur, as well as bullets and wisecracks?, begins to fly. . . Shayne has been commissioned to conduct ' the witness to San Francisco to testify in a murder trial. They leave on an express with a determined gangster bent on stopping the witness from giving evidence, the reporter-girl-friend of the detective after a story, and a stranger with plenty" of money as chief companions. It is an exciting story all the way through and reaches a fitting climax. . The second feature is “Panama Lady,_ which stars Lucille Ball and Alan Lane.
