Selassie To Raise Ethiopian Army
(Rec. 12.30 p.m.) RUGBY, October 7. Replying to a House of Commons question, the Secretary for War (Captain Margesson) said it was the intention of the Emperor Haile Selassie, with the British Government’s agreement, to raise and maintain an Ethiopian army under his own Government. The British Government would provide a military mission of British officers and instructors to assist the Emperor in organising and training this force. The exact size and type of units comprising the Ethiopian army had not yet been finally decided on.
